“Sing to the Lord a new song;sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name;proclaim his salvation day after day“
– Psalms 96:1-2
Music has always played an important role in the worship of God’s people. Music can be very divisive, but it can also make a strong statement of what church is: a gathering of diverse – multi-cultural, multi-generational – people. Liturgical music reflects that diversity. Music is a powerful type of articulation. Music communicates this feeling of the Holy God in an extraordinarily powerful way. It imparts our contemplations, applause, and thanksgiving to our ever-amazing Lord Almighty in a manner that satisfies Him. Musicians are ministers appointed by God and music for worship is not our entertainment. It is an act of worship (I Chronicles 16:4-6). The purpose of the Music Ministry is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship and provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gift and be an integral part of the worship service. The Music Ministry provides worship music for assigned church worship services and special services outside of the church.
The largest choir in the church is the congregation. Role of choir in leading worship is to help our Church sing together and experience the presence of God. Leading the congregation in hymns and prayers is absolutely essential for worship, since praise is much desired by God. For more than two decades, The Ahmadi Marthoma Church Parish Choir has given voice to the hopes, joys, trials, and triumphs of people of our Church. Today the choir comprise of 16 males and 19 females. Choir Members are introduced into the choir via audition process. Commitment is expected from each and every member. The Music Ministry enables choir members to grow spiritually by committing their time and talents to God. Members of the choir are trained various tunes for Chants, Responses and Hymns. Instrumentalists within the choir and from Church to support in achieving the complete worship experience. This then helps our congregation sing in Unison. Choir members are informed to prepare themselves to be the leaders in worship.
